Item #: 4852A

A large and lovely oil lamp, mold patent dated on the underside of the base "October 7th, 1873". The oil lamp is larger than most you see of this period. It was manufactured by Atterbury & Company, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The design for the brass screw socket that connects the fount and base is one patent for which the company was famous. This oil lamp has a three part mold blown fount with a "loop and fringe" pattern. The base is white mold glass, in an octagon shape with recessed rectangles. A similar lamp is featured on page 125 of "Thurso's Oil Lamps III" book. The lamp has a high rise burner, patent dated "May 6, 1863" on the wick raiser. The chimney is a newer replacement. The lamp has no chips cracks or flea bites. It is 12 1/4" tall to the brass collar, 25 1/2" tall with the chimney, and the base is 5 5/8" in diameter. A perfect addition to any great lamp collection!
