1937 Western Union Tel. Co. Heart Shaped Lock & Key
Item #: 4063A
A very nice heart shaped brass lock and key set from the Western Union Telegraph Company. The lock is cast on the front "Western-Union Tel. Co.", and cast on the other side on the key hole cover "Close Lock to Get Key Out", and that's the truth! The key hole cover has a strong spring, and the lock and key work smoothly. Stamped on the front shackle of the lock is "1937", and the key is stamped "1934" on the hilt. The lock dimensions are 3 3/8" long and 2 ¼" wide. The small brass key measures 1 11/16" long, and the hilt is ¾" wide. The lock has 18 links of chain, and the clevis moves freely. There are some small, old, silvery paint speckles across the front of the lock. Western Union Telegraph Company was founded as New York and Mississippi Valley Printing Telegraph Co. in 1851, and was named as one of the original ll stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The first singing Telegram was by Western Union in 1933. Be sure you add this fun and useful collectible in your collection!
