RGWRR - Rio Grande Western Railroad 1890s Heart Shaped Stamped Post & Co. Switch Lock & Single Ring Key
Item #: 091434 A hard-to-find 1890s switch lock & key set from The Rio Grande Western Railway. The brass heart-shaped lock is stamped on the front shackle "RGWRR" and "Post & Co. Ohio, Pat. July 1, 78" on the spring cover. It is stamped on the other side of the shackle "S". It measures 3 7/8" long and 2 1/2" wide and comes with 3 links of hand-forged chain. The key cover has a good spring and the lock will open easily. The rare single barrel brass key is in very good condition with great patina and is stamped "RGWRy" on the front, and "321" on the other side. There is wear on the left side of the "W". The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railway (1881) and the State Line & Denver Railway were merged in June 1889 to form the Rio Grande Western Railway. The RGWRy connected Grand Junction, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah. The D&RG took over RGWRy in 1901. Here is a piece of Western Colorado railroadiana history you will want to add to your collection!
