This exceptional quilt was made with loving hands as a wedding quilt in 1917. In the lower right corner, "1917" appears in hand embroidery. The appliqued flying blue birds are soft blue cotton with embroidered beaks and eyes, and all are graduated in size. They form a heart shape in the center of the quilt. The quilt has thin cotton batting, and the background of the quilt is elaborately stitched with hearts, flowers, stars, diamonds and heart motif, with four leaf clovers. The quilt is hand stitched with 10 to 12 stitches per inch. The white border is machine stitched. There are no stains and no fraying, and the quilt is in excellent condition.
