About Us

Welcome to the new and improved Southwest Spirit Antiques website!
After over 29 years of buying and selling quality and unique antiques and collectibles, we have moved our showroom in 2013 to a new display room where we offer private appointments to our clients. We have been Certified Personal Property Appraisers for several years now, working together to bring our clients accurate representations of their family heirlooms, art and antique collections. We are still enjoying our antique and appraisal business as much as we did back then when we opened our doors, and our dedication and perseverance continue to be spent in finding and offering the best quality antiques and collectibles that we are able to for our clientele.
The love of antiques began for Debbie when she was very young, haunting the local antique shops, occasionally getting gently removed at closing time, but always having fun with a lot of dust, dirt, and spider webs amidst the treasures. Debbie later worked in a flower and antique shop beginning in 1972, spawning a lifelong love of both. The first antique Debbie bought was treadle sewing machine which still has a prominent place in the front hall of our home to this day.
John has a long and interesting history in his family with a relationship to the Rock Island Lines of over 100 years. His father was an engineer for the Rock Island Lines until they closed in 1980. This family history has endowed John with a natural affinity for all things Railroad. With their self-learned expertise on everything railroad-related, John and Debbie were asked to be contributors to Sue Knous' book "Railroadiana II" in 2011.
We hope you enjoy browsing our new website. We try to add new and intriguing items often. We are always still hunting and finding . . . the best part of the job!
