Regular price $1,595.00 Sale price $1,295.00
Item #: 09500C

An exceptional and early English firescreen. This lovely parlor piece is solid mahogany, with black pinstriping around all three screens, and the legs. The legs are arched, ending in brass caps with brass casters. The center support is ring turned with dark stained rings, and has an inlaid diamond at the center. The three 21" wide screens extend right, left, and up to create a large area of protection from the heat of a fireplace. All three screens have sea green and gold figured foliage and flower patterned tapestry, circa 1930, made by Mariano Fortuny, a famous Spanish artist and designer. The fabric is the "Granada" pattern, named after Fortuny's birthplace, Granada, Spain. The tapestry is in excellent condition. There is a little lightening of color on the back facing screen and the front facing screen. The brass handle for the center screen is acanthus leaf patterned. Each screen section is 24" tall and 21" wide. The screen is 42" tall floor to top of handle. If you've been searching for the perfect firescreen for your parlor, this could be the one, especially if you are a serious collector of Fortuny fabric!
