This is a lovely and huge art nouveau antique bronze L & F Moreau signed figural lamp from France, which will grace any living room beautifully. We believe it is from the 1900's or 20's. L&F Moreau were two brothers who were part of the Moreau dynasty of sculptors from Dijon France. L&F Moreau were perhaps best known for creating highly ornate clocks and garniture sets in both bronze and spelter. The L stands for Louis Auguste (1855-1919), known for bronzes and metal sculptures. The F stands for Hippolyte Francois (1857-1930), a painter and sculptor. It is quite large and heavy. It features a young girl and boy collecting apples or fruit from a tree. The figures are draped in abbreviated clothing, and there is a basket of fruit at the base of the tree. The figures are very graceful and have excellent details. The lamp is signed on the right side of the base under the basket (please see picture). The lamp base stands 28 3/8" tall, and is 11" in diameter. The ivory, or off white shade with the lamp is 19 1/8" in diameter, and the whole piece together is 46 7/8" tall. The shade is in good condition, but needs to be replaced. It does have a small 1/2" long split in the cloth, but no marks or stains. It compliments the lamp very well. We are sure it is replacement shade, but it and the lamp are beautiful together. In the right setting this elegant lamp would be just picturesque.
