Item #: 5214
This Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad lantern is an eye pleaser for sure. The lantern frame is in excellent condition with 100% tin, and it has not been polished, we just removed some of the oil and dirt on the inside of the frame. Embossed on the top lid is: D.&R.G.W.R.Y." and "Adlake - Kero." This is an accidental manufacturer mismark, it should be "R.R." Embossed on the bottom of the frame are the patent dates and "Adlake-Kero, 3-47 (third quarter of 1947)." There are a few minor dings on the top and bottom of the frame from years of use. The frame stands 9 ½" tall without the bail. The 3 ¼" tall red etched "D&RGWRR" Corning globe is in near mint condition with no nicks or chips on the rims. It is cast with the Corning "Cnx" logo at the top & "Made In U.S.A." at the bottom. Also etched on the other side is "Safety First." This lantern comes with the correct Adlake 300 fount and burner which is in excellent condition. This D&RGW lantern is a real beauty, and is sure to please any Colorado railroad collector!
