1860-70's Amethyst Swirl Mold Blown Oil Lamp

Regular price $225.00
Item #: 4727A

An early Victorian period oil lamp, still in wonderful condition, for it is almost 150 years old. The lamp was made during the 1860-70's by an eastern United States glass company of the time. The pear shaped molded font is amethyst glass in a swirl pattern. The lamp stern is brass and is in very good condition, no dents, some patina from age and wear. The marble base is white, with black striations. The base shows usual edge wear from age, with one underside old corner chip that has grown smooth, from years of use. The #1 size burner is marked on the wick adjuster "P & A mfg. Co, pat. June 26, '94." It is an old replacement and fits well. The wick adjuster works well, and there is a wick present. The lamp base is attached by the original hex nut, in a recessed hole. The clear 7" tall chimney is new, with a 2 1/2" fitter. The lamp itself is 10" tall without the burner, and the base is 4 1/4" square. If you are an oil lamp collector with a passion for purple, this is a lamp you'll love!
