Item #: 5133
A very nice Midwest lantern from the Chicago & Northwestern Railway. The double wire guard frame is very straight with lots of tin and solid meal with some patina. It is embossed on the top lid "The Adams and Westlake Company, Chicago, New York, C. & N.W.Ry", with the last patent date embossed "May 28, 1895. It is stamped on the lip "Pat. May 5, 1909". The lantern comes with a dark red cast 5 3/8" tall Corning style globe that is embossed in a square rectangular panel "C & N W Ry." in serif letters. The globe is in excellent condition with three very small outside bottom rim flakes. The lantern stands 10 1/4" without the bail. The 1909 Adlake font and burner are in good condition. The only fault is the shop solder repairs on the bottom. For being 115 years old this fine lantern would be a nice addition to that extensive Railroadiana collection!
