Item #: 5102
Here is a lantern you don't just stumble across every day. A Adlake-Kero 250 lantern for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad in excellent condition with lots of tin. This lantern comes with a prized aqua, or signal green Corning short etched "D&RGW" globe in very good condition. The globe is embossed Adlake-Kero above the etched letters. On the other side it is embossed with the Corning hallmark "Cnx at the top, etched "Safety First", and embossed "Made In U.S.A." below that. The 3 ½" tall green globe has a few minor small rim chips or flea bites on the top rim, and one outside flake on the bottom. These will not be seen when in the frame, but need to be mentioned for accuracy. The top lid of the frame is marked "D&RGWRR, The Adams & Westlake Co., Adlake No. 250 Kero, Chicago, Elkhart, New York" with the last patent date being 1923. The frame is very straight and solid, we cleaned it of oil & dirt, and then hand polished it. There is some very slight surface roughness on the top lid. The lantern comes with an Adlake 300 burner and fount that is all tin. This lantern is usually missing in most Colorado Railroadiana collections, so don't miss your opportunity, before the train leaves the station!
