Tall globe lanterns were replaced with short globe lanterns around the early 1920's. The transition year for the name change of D&RG to D&RGW was 1921. So most of the D&RGW lanterns you will find will be short globe A&W Adlake No. 200, 250, or Handlan frames. Embossed on the top lid is "D&RGW, Handlan, St. Louis, U.S.A., 2467" On the bottom of the fount holder it is marked "Handlan, St. Louis", with patent dates. The frame stands 9 1/2" tall without the bail. The lantern comes with the correct Handlan fount and burner, which will hold oil with no pin holes, 100% tin. The 5 3/8" tall Macbeth-Evans Glass Co. (MEG) clear cast in the square rectangular panel "D&RGW", and the globe is in excellent condition with only one very small 1/8" inside rim flake on the bottom rim. The globe is embossed at the top "M.E.G. Co., 21", above "D&RGW". So don't let this rare Colorado beauty slip byyou, it will not last long.
