Item #: 09575
A rare opportunity to own a very early 1900's Colorado & Southern Railway & Company advertising broadside not often seen. This rectangular framed broadside is titled "Coursing Coyotes on the line of the Colorado & Southern Ry Co." at the center bottom of the colored lithograph. The left side of the broadside is titled "Ready for the Chase", featuring hunting hounds surrounding a saddled horse. The right side is titled "The Chase", showing the pack of hounds running a ferocious coyote to ground, followed by the horse and cowboy rider. The broadside is in the original ebonized oak frame with gesso embossed vine design trim. The frame has been restored, and is in very good condition. The broadside does show some minor water damage on the left and right edges, with slight paper rippling at the bottom (see pictures). The glass was cracked, and has been replaced with antique glass, which has some tiny bubble and a few wave or two. The frame has some original brown paper backing attached, with the original eyelet hangers. There is a paper small label at top center of the back of the frame which reads "J. G. Smith, 322 - 17th St., Denver". Dimensions of the Colorado & Southern Ry. Co. broadside in frame are; 31 3/8" wide, and 14 3/4" tall. A unique and hard to find C&SRy advertising piece ready to enjoy!
