We have had the pleasure of owning this stunning, early, original Loetz vase for many years, and we have never seen another one like it. The vase has a teardrop shaped body, with a cinched in neck. The vase tapers to a ½" inch diameter point at the base, where it is engraved in VERY small script, "Loetz Austria." The vase is done in a pulled thistle design, in cased glass in deep rich tones of burgundy red, with bluish-purple and gold iridescent highlights. The vase is mounted in a tricorner bronze cast frame, with three fanciful cast dragonflies gracing the center of the frame. The frame has rich, dark patina. The top rim of the vase is smooth ground, and there are two or three small factory air bubbles in the glass towards the bottom of the vase. There is a very tiny spot on the top rim which looks like a factory air bubble. Hard to even see, but must be mentioned for accuracy. The vase itself is 11 ¾" tall, and 4 ½" in diameter. The frame is 7 ¼" wide at the base, and 13 ½" tall. This very elegant reminder of times gone by will be the showpiece of any Loetz collection, why not yours?
