We have never seen a bed quite as beautiful and unique as this. This absolutely stunning bed is solid quarter sawn oak, heavily pierce carved with scrolling, acanthus leaves and tulips, with large griffin style four toe claw feet that have wings that extend to the side rails. The bed is large and quite heavy, and is full length and queen width; still very suitable for today's use and comfort. The quarter sawn oak is expertly carved, and is 1 ½" to 2" wide at the foot and head where it is scrolled. The top posts are thick barley twist at the base, with carved acanthus leaf motif tops. The foot is shorter, with acanthus carved posts. The dimensions of this beautiful bed are: Headboard: 58" tall x 63 ½" wide. Foot board: 31" tall x 66 ½" wide (including feet). And the side rails are 74 ¾" long x 4 ½" wide, and 1 ¼" thick. The outside length of the bed is 83 ½". Two thick and heavy solid oak slats were custom made for the bed a few years ago. The bed has original and unique bolts that attach the head and foot boards to the side rails. The bed was refinished 20 years ago to a dark oak finish, and is in wonderful restored condition. The bed currently has a custom made mattress and box springs, which can either go with the bed or not, depending on what you would prefer. If you have been searching for a truly unique and stately bed for your home, this is it!
