A beautiful double pickle castor with cranberry opalescent swirl inserts. The double pickle castor is numbered #502, and is from the Meriden Brittania Company, during the 1890's. The pickle castor is silverplate, with Greek key designs on the feet, and the handle. Male and female Greek figure camoes are on the sides of the insert holders. The two cranberry reverse swirl opalescent inserts are in perfect condition. They are mold blown with pontils. There are no rim chips. The three tine pickle fork has a greek key design, and is marked Viceroy Plate U.S.A. The silverplate frame does not appear to be re-plated. The insert lids are replacements, but they match well, and fit tightly. The inserts sit well in the frame. The inserts are; 3 1/4" diameter, and 5 7/8" tall. The frame is ; 11 1/2" tall, 8 1/4" long, and 4" wide. A nice cranberry castor set, ready to display, or use!
